NOISY PUMP VERSUS QUIET PUMPS.
All pumps make some noise because you have a mechanical rotor spining at high RPMs.
In order to reduce any noise pump might make it is very important to submerge pump fully in the water.
If pump is submerged 3/4 of total pump height you will hear a slight humming sound.
Wet rotor pumps verses seal rotor pumps.
The advantages of both styles are mentioned in the previous page.
Install and Design-Your-Own Pond. The Beckett color-coded system makes it easy. Once you've decided how big your pond will be, just look for the red, yellow, or green panels on each package to choose the right pump. Keep in mind that our system is based on gallon capacities and assumes a pond depth of 1.5 feet. Deeper ponds have larger capacities. What capacity is your pond? Also chart is based on one foot of pump lift. |
FOR SMALL PONDS (up to 210 gallons) USE: G150AG20~G210AG20
FOR MEDIUM PONDS (up to 535 gallons) USE: M350AUL~G325AG2O~G535AG2O
FOR LARGE PONDS AND WATERFALLS (over 550 gallons) USE: PS1250A~PS1600A~PS3900A

What capacity is your pond?
Use this formula: Length x Width x Depth x 7.5* = Gallons (Measurements in feet)
*7.5 = Number of gallons per cubic feet of water.
Example: 7' Length x 3' Width x 1.5' x 7.5 = 236.25 Gallons

In the previous page you will find the capacity and the lift of every pump. For example: I have a fountain that is 6 feet from base to top with a 1/2" hose running through the center of the fountain. I only need the water to bubble out. My choice for the fountain would be the G325AG20. The pump can produce 169 GPH at 6 feet.
REMEMBER IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO OVERSIZE PUMP. IF IT'S TOO MUCH WATER YOU CAN ALWAYS PINCH THE LINE OR INSTALL A VALVE TO REDUCE FLOW WITHOUT DAMAGING THE PUMP.
Technical Terms for pond pumps.
- Shutoff: term used to describe the maximum vertical height in a column of pipe that a pump can lift, past that point the pump will not produce any water though the pump is still running.
